About this event:
Join us for the WI Mental Health Framework Training in partnership with Project AWARE! Through this grant-funded two-day series, we'll guide you through implementing mental health literacy for you and your staff, along with starting or improving mental health practices in your school.
Registering for this event registers you for both days.
Each day contains two topics, with learning objectives identified below.
- October 29 - 8:30 to 10:00 - Mental Health Literacy
- Define mental health and mental health literacy
- Understand the components of mental health literacy for educators
- Engage in self-reflection related to your own mental health literacy
- Identify mindsets and skills useful in supporting student mental health
- Identify tools/resources for increasing your mental health literacy
- October 29 - 10:30 to 12:00 - Wisconsin School Mental Health Framework Overview
- Accurately describe mental health and school mental health
- Identify what it sounds like to approach school mental health from a systems change lens using the guiding principles of trauma-sensitive schools
- Identify the six components of a comprehensive school mental health system
- Name at least one resource they could use to strengthen their school's mental health system
- November 7 - 8:30 to 10:00 - The Roadmap for School Mental Health Improvement
- Understand the relationship between the Wisconsin School Mental Health Framework and the Roadmap for School Mental Health Improvement
- Identify the five steps to quality improvement outlined in the Roadmap
- Name at least one tool for each step of the Roadmap
- Apply an equity mindset to each step of the Roadmap
- November 7 - 10:30 to 12:00 - Deeper dives in specific components of CSMHS

About the Presenter:
Ted Noll is the CESA 2 RSN Director/Director of Special Education. Ted was the Director of Student Services and Special Education at Cedarburg School District for the past seven years. He has also worked at the Brown Deer School District, Fox Point - Bayside School District and the Racine Unified School District. Ted is licensed as a Director of Student Services, Superintendent, Principal, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and School Psychologist. Ted integrated EMLSS for academics and behavior district-wide, led the Professional Learning Community framework with integrated co-plan / co-serve components, led the district-wide violent intruder district response system, and led initiatives around mental wellness and social-emotional learning support.
Elizabeth Witter Freeman has been supporting CESA 2 schools since 2015. Her areas of specialty include School Systems, School Improvement, Data Analysis, Strategic Planning, RtI/MTSS, and Pupil Service Delivery. Elizabeth practiced as a School Psychologist near Madison, WI after receiving her doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007.
