Day 1 Mentoring and Coaching Cycles for Student-Centered Learning
- Construct a vision of coaching for equity through an examination of the why, what, and how of coaching
- Support teachers to create and maintain an Optimal Learning Environment for every learner
- Use priority indicators to strategically focus coaching conversations
- Build relational trust, and use coaching language, stances, and entry points to move teaching practice and student learning forward
Day 2 Planning to Support Student Centered Learning
- Introduction to the Planning Conversation Guide to advance teaching practice and ensure equitable learning opportunities for every learner
- Intellectual preparation of a lesson
- Addressing biases through strategic coaching conversations
- Strategic use of coaching language and stances through engagement in a planning conversation
- Understanding how to use the Knowing Students and Knowing Teachers tool
Day 3 Observing to Support Student-Centered Learning
- Introduction to the tools that support the observation process
- Priority indicators in Pre-Observation Conversation, Observation, Post-Observation Co-Analysis
- Levels of practice based on observational data
- Strategic use of coaching language and stances through Post-Observation Co-Analysis conversations
Day 4 Analyzing Student Learning to Inform Student Centered Learning
- Introduction to Analyzing Student Learning to examine student work and inform instruction that meets the needs of every learner
- Plan for culturally responsive teaching that addresses areas of need and supports student growth
- Sustain trust while providing effective feedback
- Maintaining confidentiality while building a collaborative relationship with school leaders
